So im pretty sure we all remember that Sunday when we were sitting there minding our own business, enjoying another great day of football when the highlights from other games began to come across our screen. It was at that point we all saw what turned out to be one of the most devastating injuries we have ever seen. I can remember watching the highlight as Zach Miller began to reach out and catch the football in the end zone for what looked like a touchdown but my eyes quickly left the ball and watched as his leg snapped in half. Easily one of the worst injuries I have ever witnessed in sports, and to hear he almost lost his leg if not for the medical staff reacting so quickly.
It is said from a lot of key personnel that Miller is most likely going to have to call it a career and that there is no possible way his leg could ever again hold up to the rigorous National Football League schedule. So sad for a player that seemed to be making some strides in his career and was looking to have a career year in a contract year to cash in on one last big pay day. It was not meant to be but the Chicago Bears did some thing today that makes me respect that franchise more then I ever have.
The Chicago Bears have signed Miller to a one year deal worth just under 500K. This is such a cool thing because the Bears could have just walked away from Miller because he was a free agent entering 2018 and obviously no one was going to offer him a contract. The Bears stepped up and lets be honest they didnt have to. Miller had played there for a few years but he was not a franchise guy who started and was going to end his career there, thats what makes this so special is that the Bears did this because it came down to being the right thing to do. Kudos to DA BEARS
